About the project

Faro supports local actors who collect and recycle waste by connecting them to low-cost and low-tech recycling solutions, together with extensive training on how to improve services and increase impact. By valorizing street trash we contribute to job creation and we alleviate environmental, social and health problems. We tap into a new source of revenue by creating new products from used materials.
I want to clean up street trash in developing cities. . We distinguish two different beneficiaries.
Partner organizations, who provide primary waste collection. Here, we have a direct impact because when collaborating with us, they get new tools, resources and opportunities to improve their work.
Local communities. Here we have an indirect impact. By helping the partner organizations to improve and expand their work with primary waste collection, we have an indirect impact on the local populations who benefit from the partner organizations work.To start our organization we will use a mixed source of funding, from subsidies and philanthropy as well as investors and crowdfunding. In the long term we plan to become financially sustainable by developing a revenue model in collaboration with the partner organizations. At the moment we have one full time staff member (voluntary), one chemical engineer for support from the sideline and a couple of people who have shown interest and want to provide advisory support.
